Port

Mattias Windemo has now released his first solo album PORT.
This is his second album in his own name. The album contains 17 tracks of which 13 are compositions and four are free improvisations. All music is written by Windemo.
The common instrument on the record is the unique double-necked guitar constructed by professional guitar builder Jan Helge in collaboration with Windemo. This custom-made instrument is tuned in fourths and has wide, concave frets. This guitar’s form and construction make it suitable for "tapping" and Windemo is often seen playing with one hand on each neck, using it more as a piano than a guitar.
The pieces were written over a period of two years and are the result of a further search after spiritually in sounds.
The technical aspect of the recording procedure has been of great importance as the purpose has been to capture the music with all its details and nuances in such a natural way as possible.
The recordings were done by night in July 2006 in an old church in Gysinge, Sweden.
Each CD is completed by the artist Inger Arvidsson handpainting directly on the cover.
